Youth

Consejo has a long history of providing award-winning services to adolescents and teens.  Youth services overlap each of our five major divisions of service.  Our South Park Youth Service Center in Seattle is also dedicated to serving high-risk youth and their families.  Services include Behavioral Health and Substance Abuse Treatment, Sexual Assault Prevention and Gang Prevention and Intervention Services.

Behavioral Health

Behavioral Health Services for youth at Consejo include individual and group counseling for a wide range of mental health issues including depression, anxiety, aggression, OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder), cutting behaviors, eating disorders, PTSD ( Post Traumatic Stress Disorder), ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder), ADHD (Attention Deficit and Hyperactivity Disorder), ODD (Oppositional Defiant Disorder), adjustment disorder in school and the community, gender identity and suicide ideation.  Therapy at Consejo ensures youth achieve identified indicators promoting increased mental health working both with individual and group therapy.

Youth Outpatient Substance Abuse Treatment

Consejo provides outpatient chemical dependency treatment services to high-risk youth in Pierce and King Counties.  Consejo’s services are tailored to monolingual, high-risk youth who lack support systems necessary to overcome addictions.  This often leads to low academic performance, truancy, dropping out of school and teen parenthood.  Consejo also encourages family involvement throughout treatment and provides support services for the families of affected youth as well.

Gang Prevention and Intervention Program

Consejo’s Gang Prevention and Intervention Program support Latino youth in King County to increase academic achievement and promote employability.  Services include tutoring, truancy prevention, college preparation, mentoring, recreational activities, job readiness training, life coaching and leadership skills.  Youth increase community attachment and disconnect with gangs though replacement therapy, behavioral health and substance abuse treatment.

 Latino Youth Leadership Conference

One major success of Consejo’s Youth Services Program is our Annual Latino Youth Leadership Conference.  This conference is completely organized and implemented by Latino youth with guidance from adult mentors. Historically, this conference includes a diversity of workshops by Latino community leaders, artists and professionals.  Consejo’s Annual Latino Youth Leadership Conference is the only conference of its kind in Washington State.
